About Odell's

Odell's is a leader in supplying quality popcorn topping and popping products to the concession industry. Odell's is a second-generation family owned business. History

Odell's began in 1962 when the original owner, Virgil Odell, discovered a process used by the military to remove water and milk solids from butter. During this time theatres were using creamery butter that would separate when melted and required refrigeration. This process led to the introduction of Anhydrous Butterfat, a REAL Butter that required no refrigeration and did not separate. It was an immediate success.

The next decade Odell's saw a consumer trend toward the use of margarine. We began working on an economical alternative to our Anhydrous Butterfat. That's when we introduced Supur-Kist Two. Supur-Kist Two consists of soybean oil and a specially formulated buttery flavoring. This buttery formula is designed to peak when heated, providing consumers with both a buttery aroma and taste that is hard to match. This led to another success with theatres, a product that smells and tastes like butter on popcorn without the cost of real butter.

In the late 1980's another consumer trend began to emerge. Consumers were becoming concerned with the amount of saturated fats in their diets. We were the first to introduce Canola Oil, in 1987, as an alternative to Coconut Oil.

Since then our product line has continued to grow. We currently offer our original popcorn toppings but we have added several types of popping oils to meet our customers' needs. These oils are Canola oil, Coconut oil, Sunflower oil and Classic Blend, a blend of Corn and Coconut oil.

Most recently we've introduced popcorn popping and topping products in sizes for home use. With the proliferation of home theatres more and more customers have inquired about Odell's Original Popcorn Butter in sizes more convenient for home use. We now offer our Original Popcorn Butter, popping oils, a complete Movie Theatre Popcorn Kit and Whirley Pop home poppers on our eStore at www.odellsonline.com.
